I can´t find any words... Pity I have already used my voting limitation for this week. I suppose someone could do that - propose for the Gallery. Such a pic may not go lost!
Greetings on this extra ordinary picture +++.
It's narrates , a baddou watching the transformation of a city from enthnic to modernism. Technically Briliant.
Where it is shot ???

Yesss! I hadn´t to wait long till someone propose this stunning work for the Gallery. I think there is no sense to discuss about any technical details why we all vote pro. The author knows it, we know it. Just PRO!
This was PRO the second I saw it on the screen. This has all the markings of a superior professional photographer. I agree Vlad - the photographer knows we all know. Very advanced, museum quality. Just put it in the gallery and raise the bar.
Hi Awadh, Nice image my friend, and I do wish to emphasise that before I bring up two points. Well nobody bothered to give any reasons for a Contra vote despite 9 of them voting Contra ... why ?? Someone have the nerve please, so that people can learn from their own or other's experiences .. This is a nice image and has been described as technically perfect and exceptional so I will bite the bullet and maybe presume what the 'Contra' voters may have disliked in this image. OK in my opinion I think that there are two things here ... the blob of blown empty highlight that constantly drags your attention away from the open scene ... and the second is the seperation between the foreground and background is quite essential but hasn't happened. The rocks he is stood upon blend into the background. It is a very nice image that is well composed ... but because of the two points above I cannot say it is exceptional (surprised KW didn't pick up on this as I respect here keen subjective eye) ... AND before all 41 people swallow their tongue in disbelief .. it is just my opinion ... and one I felt I had to write because of the lack of honesty from the Contra voters ... P.S. I was not one of them as I was away ..
Congrats Awadh, a deserved place in the Gallery.
Must say i do in some ways agree with Paul that it is a bit sickening that no-one of the contravoters either has the guts or maybe the knowledge to say why they voted contra !
Paul,
I did notice the blown sky, but I chose to look at the picture as a whole. If you notice there is a storm front and rain coming down to the right. I really did not see the man looking down on the city but rather the sun (brighter times) coming after what looks like a cleansing. Someone made the comment of the picture almost being "Biblical" - but the description harkened to how I saw - a reference to light rather than a technical flaw of a blown sky - which a good percentage of FC would not even know the term. I've seen this effect used in Medieval and Renaissance murals to depict the presence of God. Here what would technically be seen as a "flaw" I think plays to it' advantage.
I also noticed the blown sky, but did not find it to be disturbing in any way, with as a contra the apparently rain or storm on the other side i found it quite "speaking"
Actually Wen I can certainly see and wholeheartedly agree with what you are saying :0) ... still maintain the lack of seperation between foreground and background could be better .. Also just to clear it up - I actually probably would have considered voting Pro as well, had I been there for the vote ... but I was just trying to see if I could prompt some Contra voters to share their opinions .. after all the Contras are just as important as the Pros when it comes to offering critique, but they are meaningless and negative if they don't say why they are leaving a Contra ... glad our paths seem to converge on occasions Wen. And Yes Ruud .. the contrasting weather systems are (as Wen also wrote) very meaningful. We are here to learn and thankfully as a relatively inexperienced amateur I have learned something today ... undoubtedly this learning has happened because I questioned the Contra voters ... hopefully they will speak up in future - this is exactly what FC is all about :0) Regards, Paul.
Very strong image! Pitty that this link { http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/73615.html } has only very small images.. Stunning work with a modest D70 Camera and a modest lens (Nikkor 24-120)
For the contra voters, mow, as Paul says... please say what you are thinking... Not only in this picture but in whole. The "bravo & excellent & well done" is not constractive critique, but a "contra" vote and explenation is!
Respect for the man... (sorry for the poor English)

Dramatic and beautiful. You deserve all the above plaudits. Great image. It's like the character is going to witness a fantastic storm over the city. Superb.
Spectacular composition. You have perspective, texture, patterns, and a restricted color range from yellow to blue. Dramatic story very well told.
Regards Sebastian

An excellent photo and more than a story, an entire book!
