This well known expression was coined - no doubt - at a time when the first Wild Turkey hen did not feel like getting involved in the mad mating game

Wild turkeys on a sideroad on Saltspring Island ... only the males sport the colourful plumeage, they are not for eating as far as I know, they are not fat, just fluffing up their feathers (in response to some of the comments I got)
