The famous 'Jingpeng pass' is a mountainous section of the local-operated Jining - Tongliao Railway, Inner Mongolia Province, China. It was the very last new mainline (completed 1995) on Earth operated with steam locomotives from its opening until 2005, when diesel took over.

2000 may have been the best year on the pass, as still no diesel were introduced and the trafic was already very heavy, with 8 to 10 freight trains in daylight. Early autumn was a very pleasant time of the year to stay there, with acceptable temperatures and fall colors.

This train is in the second level above Reshui, the third level can be seen in background. Nowaday, such pictures can only make us remember, how fantastic this place was in steam days...

Ein herrlicher Blick auf die Hügel! Interessant diese auch mal im zarten Grün zu sehen, welches durchaus fotogen ist. Vorne ein bisschen knapp am Rand.
