Haunted door

I'm trying to learn a bit layers that I know nothing about. I just remembered this door that I took in one of the Edinburgh museum more than a year ago.I thought that it might be a bit boring just a door. So I thought that I tried to put some "ghosts" in it. They are two pottery figures really, carrying a basket of fruits together. If anybody remembers "Greyfriars Bobby", his photo is displayed in the same museum as well.
I really want know if I get everything right or not, or get the effect I wanted , this is my first try of mask. I resized the pottery photo a few times, I 'm not sure if the proportion is right. All comments and criticism are very welcome.Thank you.

a girl from the beyond of the "twilight zone" ; ) – a great creative idea and experiment, that's for sure! however, i can't really comment on your "technical expertise", as i myself don't know anything about it ; )! can try to tell you something about the impact/effect of the composition, though: the old door does in fact look beautiful and ancient and definitely more than a little haunted, too! and the figurines/ghost you placed into the window look very real! would never have suspected them to be pictures of pottery! maybe you might have increased the "chill" and surprise by "alienating" the girl on the right a little more, make her look less conspicuous, so we spook more at her sudden sight and discovery. as it is, she's placed right where our eyes would expect her to be – am i making sense at all? i'm not sure ; ))… greetings, sabine.
