About me

Welcome and thank you for viewing these pages. I became serious about photography 5 years ago. It has become an essential way for me to experience life as an active rather than passive participant. I practice it whenever I can outside my demanding career as a chemistry faculty.

Photography for me is a continuing process of discovery, initiated by each familiar click of the shutter button. With light as the primary medium, capturing and shaping it begins a meditative journey during which images develop into a reflection of the people, animals, or places I have interacted with. The images on this site are the fruit of an often long process of optimizing tones, colors, and sharpness, without artificially changing the true essence of a scene.

My travels have provided me with the chance to deepen my understanding of the world, a quest that continues and which I hope goes well beyond any preconceived notions I hold. I hope with this site to share an intimate view of aspects of our world that are much more positive than our current media culture tends to project.

    Welcome to fotocommunity.com!

Good to see you found this place, where professionals, amateurs and rookies meet to share their views of photography, show and discuss each others work.
I hope you'll find the things you were looking for when you joined and have the same fun I have since I became a member.
Don't hesitate to ask me or any other member of the team if you have any questions!

When I thought about making it easier for new members to join our community, I had the idea to write a short tutorial which might help. You can find it here:
