I started photography as a way to show my artitstic side, as I have a ton of ideas stuck in my head. I'd love to draw or paint, but I got side tracked ten or so years ago with many other things a guy about 18 years old gets lost in like women, socializing (aka partying), music, and other time consuming activities. While being sidetracked I quit pretty much all forms of visual art and lost the ability, I can no longer get my hands to produce the ideas and images in my head onto paper they just won't do it. I started phtography because i can turn what I see into art, hopefully something I can put on my own walls and have people ask me, Where did you get that piece?
Right now I am big into night shots using super slow shutter speeds, I'm intrigued by catching motion with a still background. I've really been into night city scenes lately. I like to take abstract angled macro photos too, things like screens, brick walls, anything that will look good fading to a blur, I don't know why, but i do. I have also been shooting some racing events as a favor to friends to get some good shots of them in action on the track.
I just got myself a Canon 30d, I love it so far. I am using a few different lenses now, and been trying a few lower priced tele zoom lenses to find a decent one to carry around and not have to worry about wrecking a high dollar lens while just out goofing around.
