Hi, LauroI fully agree with you. Many historians try to interprete this tendency of selecting thse awkward sites for the monasteries as a need to escape from the threat of intruders and the looting of pirates.It may be as that also but I'm sure that, as you mentioned, it is also an urge for spiritual enlightement and being nearer to God..

Dear Lauro.Thanks again for your warm comments, much more appreciated as they come from a very good photographer. Ansel Adams..must be turning in his grave with the comparison...In fact, I consider myself an oldfashioned photographer with considerable past in the old time dark room and chemicals. And, of course, anybody who did so must have definitely taken into consideration Ansel Adam's zone system to improve his exposures.
