Dear Kortasar, no, the grass is not withered. A large part of Namibia is desert and there are some regions that get very little rain, We have a short rainy season, from January to April and then nothing for the rest of the year. The petrified dunes are in a region with very little rainfall. The last three years we have had more than normal rainfall, so the grass is green at first and then turns yellow but it is not dead. This picture was taken early in the morning and the sun has not touched the grass as yet, that is why it is white, best regards,
