The View Up Fifth Avenue

The iconic spire of the Empire State Building is framed by the graceful curve of the Washington Square Arch in Greenwich Village.

The compression of perspective afforded by the telephoto lens makes the Art Deco landmark
appear much closer than its actual distance, some thirty blocks uptown on Fifth Avenue.

The original photograph was taken on Kodachrome-64 slide film many years ago. It remains one of my favorite “timeless” images of Manhattan.

The image is available in archival gallery prints. It is also available as a custom printed Photo Note Card.

This is a great perspective. It looks like a really old photo, because of the monochrome. That is just one thing I love in NYC, that the perspective changes with every step you make. Compliments.
