the pinball of my son

Some friends that they have seen this photo ask me where it is the merit. They say that photographing a finished commercial product like this does not have more creativity than clicking. I tell to them that I dont know it, but probably, besides picking up an image that is from the taste of the photographer, this will have the same merit (or not) that to photograph a graffiti, a road sign or a sculpture. In short, are everything creations of somebody else.
I would like to know what do you think about.....

I agree with you, all existing things, have a creator, including living things such as animals, vegetables, buildings, religions, etc.
Then we are always copying creations of others, so the important isn't the motive, the important is the feeling that make you to express into a picture your point of view about the motive.
Good picture, technically correct, good job.

When I look at this image and ask myself does it have merit? I think of it in two ways. Technically the image is sound, (in focus, proper exposure, distortion free, and no flash glare)so good job.

I do think however, the image could be bolstered by some interaction with a person, place, or situation. What might have made this better is hinted at by your title."The pinball of my son" If you could have included either him or his environment the image may have a greater presence. That being said, if the image has meaning to you, then it has merit.
