The Living Forest (361) : Blackthorn

In the forest, blackthorn shrubs unfold all their white blooms in full explosion at the moment.

The wood of blackthorn is extremely hard and is highly valued for making walking sticks.

The sign warns mountain bikers to be careful for toads crossing the road from their winter quarters to the breeding grounds during early spring.

German name : Schlehdorn
Latin name : Prunus spinosa

Sehr schön gezeigt. Auch eine beliebte Raupenfutterpflanze (z.B. Segelfalter!). Das Schild mit dem Frosch ist um diese Zeit wieder sehr aktuell!
