The Living Forest (359) : Wood Anemones

Now that temperatures are getting milder, the explosion of spring has finally begun.
At this moment hundreds of wood anemones are growing on the forest floor in small dense carpets.

In springtime, these wild flowers benefit thereby a lot from the sunlight that shines through the still leafless trees.

It is said that the wood anemones bloom at the same time as the return of the swallow from Africa.
