The Kingfischer
our local version of the European very colourful Eisvogel ..... After more than 30 years of coming to VanDusen Gardens, last year was the first (and last) time I saw him high up in a tree at Heron Lake where one solitary heron usually catches the fish.
Not the best picture but I had to show you how very different our Eisvogel looks ..

Très belle photo de ce martin pêcheur-pie tout à fait différent du nôtre, que j'aimerais bien voir en vrai. Il est coiffé comme un punk .:-))))Amitiés et bon dimanche

This guy looks like a character compared to our local ones. I can imagine how exciting it must have been to finally spot him after all those years at VanDusen Gardens. Even if he stayed high up in the tree, you captured his spirit perfectly. Such a special shot!Seyfi Karaman 09/05/2026 20:28
You've captured a fantastic image of the kingfisher from a beautiful perspective. The colors appear particularly vibrant and gorgeous.Have a nive weekend, Seyfi

I wonder, whether the European and the Canadian kingfisher are somehow related, taking into account their completely different habitus. Well spotted and nicely captured with its punky hairstyle. Kind regards Karlheinzmheyden 09/05/2026 15:40
