The Hubbard Glacier

Hubbard Glacier, the largest calving glacier on the North American Continent advanced across the entrance to 35-mile-long Russell Fiord during June 2002, temporarily turning it into a lake. Hubbard Glacier has been advancing for more than 100 years and has twice closed the entrance to Russell Fiord during the last 16 years . (etc)
After seeing icebergs and glaciers melting and receding in the Antarctic, Chile, Iceland, Greenland, Canada and Alaska it was a great suprise that this glacier is still growing.

Another very impressive picture of this imposing and very"alive" glacier. Very noticable is the bluish tint most probably due to the intraviolet lens factor. Dear Adele I think that using a filter you would enhance the white and more natural appearence of the glacier.
    • Adele D. Oliver 30/11/2022 8:41

thank you, dear Alexander, but this particular glacier like several others in Alaska are indeed blue and not white, so using the filter would make them unnatural !!!

So beautiful to see this mighty glacier. But I am worried about what human with all their stupidity do to the nature and all the consequences resulting from this fact.
    Warm greetings, Sabine

Let's hope that it continues to grow and does not adapt to the general glacier world. Now that was a bit sarcastic, because we ourselves also bear responsibility that the warming happens and glaciers melt.
    Best regards
    Matthias

thank you, dear Matthias ... and yes, you are so right, and I know that this cruiseship is also partially at fault with its consumption of fuel .. but wehad to stop sailing this year - and I wanted to go back to Alaska ....

Hello Adele, my comment was not specifically aimed at you, but at all of us. I too could certainly do a lot more to reduce global warming.
      Best regards
      Matthias
