Piazzale Michelangelo

Piazzale Michelangelo was designed by architect Giuseppe Poggi in 1865 on a hill south of the historic center of the city and dedicated to Michelangelo. It is decorated with copies of some of the sculptor's masterpieces that are kept in the Mausauleum of Medici in San Lorenzo. In the center of the piaccale is a statue of David. From the balcony stretches a dreamy view of the city from Forte Belvedere to Santa Crocce across the Arno bridges, including Ponte Vecchio,Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, Bargello and the octagonal bell tower of the Badia Fiorentina.

In this wonderful environment, nothing would suit better than this lovely duette of young musicians playing classic pieces that I was lucky enough to encounter during my visit.
