Lisbon is a multilevelled city and one way to avoid climbing steps to visit them is to join the Elevador da Gloria, a fonicular transport that connects the downtown Pombaline(Restauradores sq) with the colorful upper level Bairo Alto.

if this were a still from a motion picture, i'd strongly suspect it to be taken from a horror flick!* ; ) why? well, i see a one-eyed street car moving towards** a terrified pedestrian running from it in pink panic: "yikes, here she comes! she's got her eye fixed on me, wanting to run me down and eat me alive! and doesn't it say DIE on her metal snout??" ; ) a very dynamic capture under a moody sky, alexander! love the intense oranges dominating the shot! greetings, sabine.

and yes...I did walk there and ..of course...I fell down..I am always in a hurry and therefore kind of clumsy.. :-)

For the one who is fit and wants to save money the elevador lines provide a pretty good shortcut to the next level. I decidedly like the wonderful interior of the old trams and elevators.

These funicular trams are a wonderful way of going up the steep hills to the top. an excellent scene showing the tram and the hills to be climbed.
