The Basilica of Bom Jesus is located in Goa, India, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The basilica holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. 'Bom Jesus' (literally, 'Good (or Holy) Jesus') is the name used for the Ecce Homo in the countries of Portuguese colonization. The Jesuit church is India’s first minor basilica, and is considered to be one of the best examples of baroque architecture in India.

wirkt vor allem schon farblich sehr exotisch und ungemein stimmungsvoll. Ich habe wenig Ahnung, was das Christentum und seine sakralen Bauten damals und jetzt für die Inder bedeutet hat bzw. bedeutet. Ich habe zwar 8 Wochen in Indien verbracht, aber das war wohl nur ein Tropfen auf den heißen Stein und was ich da vom gelebten Christentum und seinen kirchlichen Vertretern gesehen habe, war nichts als Ausbeutung. Leider!
