Summer Afternoon by the Brooklyn Bridge
Happy Birthday, Brooklyn Bridge...
The Brooklyn Bridge opened on May 24 in 1883 and was the
longest suspension bridge in the world at the time of its opening.
The late afternoon sun on this perfect June afternoon casts long shadows of visitors enjoying
this inviting stretch of parkland between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, along the East River.
The structure by the Brooklyn tower of the bridge is the pavilion that
protects the beautifully restored Jane's Carousel (*) from the elements.
