Stari Grad
The Old Town (Stari grad) is the old castle from 16th century near city of Sisak. It is famous for its role in the battle against the Turks in 1593 who were defeated here and stopped from going further west. The Kupa river stopped them and most of them drowned attempting to cross the river and storm the castle. The Croats were defending the castle and sucedeed. Today this renovated fortress is a museum, open for public from May to October. There is a great restaurant for having a lunch, and a walking area around.

A very interesting view,Sanja.
In this case without a windowpane ... LOL.
Nice location for a visit and study of old culture.
This fortress looks a little bit like a prison,
Greetings, Volker

Nice photo, Sanja. interesting place and great memento of the bravery of Croatia against the Turks. However, the Turks weren't really stopped there. They got as far as Vienna in 1683 when they were finally stopped by the Austrians.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Vienna
Love, Janos (ex Hungarian, a nation who fought the Turks throughout the 16th & most of the 17th centuries)
