Reading the Holly Scriptures
I saw this lady inside one of the doorsteps at the Gurdwara Bangia Sahib Temple, the largest and the most beautiful of the Sikh temples in India. It was a quiet and cool, darkish spot. She did not look like a native Indian lady and probably she had had a long way to rest herself there….I was impressed how concentrated she was on the holly scriptures she was reading from her small prayer book. Sikhs do not believe in Gods or Saints and they adore the Holly Scriptures kept, recited and taught inside their temples. The calmness of her face and the serenity radiating from the spot she was sitting at was moving...she hardly noticed me when I tried to catch her eyes and ask permission to get the clic....I did, and I walked away touched by the
reverence lingering in the air….
