R32 in a Red Mood
Red signal lights in the tunnel beyond the platform at Jamaica Center Station catch the
distinctive pattern of the ribbed stainless steel cladding of an R32 subway train in J Service.
The train has just arrived on its long trip from Broad Street in Lower Manhattan, crossing
the Williamsburg Bridge and covering a long stretch in Brooklyn before crossing into Queens.
Momentarily it will depart for the trip back to Manhattan. Thus, what was the front of the long
train of R32 rail cars is now the rear, as indicated by the red lights just below the headlights.
