Today, november 11th, Armistice Day.
May we never forget…….!

Tyne Cot Cemetery at Passendale (Belgium) on the battlefields where in 1917 one of the bloodiest battles of WWI took place.
With 11.956 white gravestones, the largest British war cemetery in the world.
70% of all buried soldiers are unknown and the inscription on their graves reads : "known only to God"
Many soldiers who died were only 18 years old, always someone’s child…….
(my shot shows only a small part of this immense sad place)

Tyne Cot is a very impressive place. I took a few pictures there myself.The problem that i experienced that there were too many people walking around the headstones. This picture, lovely though it is, would have benfited if it had a single living figure walking among the headstones.de ceulaer 20/11/2016 18:55
