More about Pura Taman Ayun

The Pura Taman Ayun Mengwi is the second holiest temple complex on the island of Bali after the mother temple Besakih on the volcano Gunung Agung.
The imperial temple of the Rajas of Mengwi is located in the center of Bali and is of national importance. It is one of the nine most important state temples and serves as a kind of replacement for the mother temple Besakih.
In the Pura Taman Ayun there are not only the shrines of the most important gods but also some ancestral shrines of the ruling family of Mengwi. Pura Taman Ayun means roughly “huge garden”, “floating flower garden” or “temple of the floating garden”.
