thank you for your "detailed ideas", interesting...
but leider, you are not right.
There is no "principal" montage in the background, just
to have the beetle "horizontaly" in the center of the
picture I had to rotate it slightly and paste

This is much more than a nice picture ists simply great, wonderful, incredible !
Let me guess how you did it:
You took (or built) a wooden box with a 45° down mounted Plate of glass in the front.
You made the inner Sides of the box completely dark.
You placed furthermore the middle of the glass in the sharp Spot of your Makrolens.
You placed a white Lampe in front of the box perhaps some green leaves.
You took a strong flash and last but not least you took a lot of pictures afterwards there may be a little Mounting (Background) and EBV.
But i repeat it Your picture is really great and shows us a wonderful different world.
Did i hit the spot with my ideas ??

I want to repeat your technic but i want to do it in Stereo. Did you ever think about to make also Stereo Pictures ? It´s something for pioneers (It´s obviously for me that you are one of them).

Super das Bild, der Käfer brummt ja auf mich zu.
Ich wäre schon längst in Deckung gegangen und hätte vergessen den Auslöser zu drücken.

Ein selten schöner Schnappschuss aus der Tierwelt. Dazu gehört eine Menge Ausdauer, ein schnelles Reagieren auf die Situation und sicherlich viel Erfahrung bei der Aufnahme fliegender Insekten bzw. Käfer. TOPP!!!!!!!!

Ein sich bewegendes kleines Tier so festzuhalten - tolle Leistung und wahrscheinlich alle Achtung für die Ausdauer ein derartiges Foto letztlich zu erwischen.
