Mating time.......
This shot shows the mating of multicoloured Asian ladybirds.
The species is native to Asia (Siberia, Himalaya, Japan, China) and has been extensively introduced by man in the USA and Europe for biological and effective control of various aphid species in greenhouses, crop fields and gardens.
However, it has also brought with it several negative effects, such as a decrease of native ladybird species.
Dutch name : Veelkleurig Aziatisch Lieveheersbeestje
German name : Asiatischer Marienkäfer
Latin name : Harmonia axyridis (var. succinea)
