Inside the Mainpost office in Saigon
A visit to the main post building is a part of the sight seeing tour in Saigon.
Located in the heart of the city, the Central Post Office has been a prominent feature of the Ho Chi Minh City. This grand old edifice was constructed between 1886 and 1891 by Gustave Eiffel who als built the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The architectural design of this Central Post Office represents the French colonial style.
It is no doubt the biggest post office in Vietnam and is an important commercial center of the Ho Chi Minh City.
The grand portrait image at the end of the vaulting is a reminder to Uncle Ho the leader of Viet Kong. The main city became his name from Saigon to Ho Chi Minh City.

...ein ganz tolles Gebäude...ich war sehr erstaunt...leider habe ich erst im nachhinein gelesen dass es dort einen Übersetzer für Briefe gibt...der ehrenamtlich jeden Tag dort seine Dienste anbietet...vielleicht kann ich mich gerade so an einen Menschen erinnern auf den diese Beschreibung passt...dann hat er damals gerade zusammengeräumt nach Beendigung seines Tages...unser Guide ist leider nicht darauf eingegangen...VLG Benita
