Hornbill

Hornbills (Bucerotidae) are a family of bird found in tropical and subtropical Africa, Asia and Melanesia.
They are characterized by a long, down-curved bill which is frequently brightly-colored and sometimes has a casque on the upper mandible.
Both the common English and the scientific name of the family refer to the shape of the bill, "buceros" being "cow horn" in Greek.

much much better than my attempt of the local specimen, I think if I remember correctly they have a red bill here.They are so difficult to photograph as they are always hiding in the trees, so you were lucky to get "him" so exposed. cathyRm Fotografie 10/06/2015 11:26

A very good capture of this Hornbill. Some blown out whites which is a pity, but even so....:))
