ground zero - 9/11 MEMORIAL, New York
My parents' generation will always remember where they were, what they were doing the day John F. Kennedy was killed. My generation will always remember what they were doing the day of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center: I was at home with a friend when my neighbours knocked on the door saying we needed to come down to watch the breaking news on TV. When my friends' little son, not even 2 years old at the time, saw the footage on TV, he went to his room and brought his little toy fire engine. I realised that you must never underestimate a child's understanding, no matter their age.
I took the photo when I was in New York on the happy occasion of my brother's wedding. For me, it's a very appropriate memorial, a hole in the ground, bottomless like the bottomless fanatism that brought about the attacks.

Da ich im Jahr 2000 vor dem WTC persönlich gestanden habe, bewegt mich auch dieses Foto sehr. Du hast recht, jeder weiß, wo er war, als sich das schreckliche Unglück ereignete. So erinner ich mich auch noch genau an den Anschlag auf JFK. Ich mochte ihn sehr. Ich habe sogar sein Grab in Washington besucht. Ein bewegender Moment.Liebe Grüße, aNette
