Great White Egret

The great white egret is a striking appearance with his all-white plumage and his long thin neck.

This large heron feeds in shallow water, mainly with fish, frogs, small mammals and occasionally small reptiles.

The great white egret is on the Red List of endangered species, but fortunately, its number has been increasing a bit in recent years.

Dutch name : Grote Zilverreiger
German name : Silberreiher
Latin name : Ardea alba alba (previous Egretta alba or Casmerodius albus)
