Der Rosellasittich ist einer der farbenprächtigsten Sittiche überhaupt.Der Rosellasittich erreicht eine Körperlänge von 30 Zentimeter und wiegt zwischen 90 und 120 Gramm.Rosellasittiche fressen überwiegend Grassamen sowie die Samen krautiger Pflanzen. Sie nehmen ihre Nahrung überwiegend auf dem Boden auf. Zum Nahrungsspektrum zählen aber auch Samen und Früchte von Sträuchern und Bäumen sowie Beeren, Nüsse, Knospen, Blätter, Stängel, Blüten und Nektar. Von großer Bedeutung für sie sind Eukalyptus- und Akazienbäume. Auch fressen sie gerne Obst, insbesondere Äpfel und Birnen, und können auf Obstplantagen beträchtliche Schäden anrichten. Tierische Nahrung bilden Insekten und deren Larven.Sie kommen in offenen Wäldern in Parks und Gärten vor. Sie sind in Südostaustralien und Tasmanien zu Hause.
The Eastern Rosella is one of the most colorful parakeets of all. The Eastern Rosella has a body length of 30 centimeters and weighs between 90 and 120 grams. Eastern Rosella mainly eat grass seeds and the seeds of herbaceous plants. Most of their food is on the ground. The food spectrum also includes seeds and fruits of shrubs and trees as well as berries, nuts, buds, leaves, stems, flowers and nectar. Eucalyptus and acacia trees are of great importance to them. They also like to eat fruit, especially apples and pears, and can cause considerable damage to orchards. Animal food is formed by insects and their larvae, which are found in open forests in parks and gardens. They are at home in Southeast Australia and Tasmania.

Beautiful wildlife shot of this very colourful parakeet in very good sharpness !!A bit dark but that is probably due to poor light conditions and does not really bother.
