Cigar smoke? Zigarrenrauch?

Back from a week of travels - started well with just a little ground fog when taking off from Munich. Ended up a hurricane... but more later.

Zurück nach einer Woche unterwegs - fing gut an mit nur etwas Bodenebel nach dem Abflug von München. Ging mit einem Orkan zu Ende - aber mehr später dazu.

Great shot! This one really stands out to me now that we are struggling with a horrible inversion (winter smog) in Utah and Salt Lake Valleys right now. Steps need to be taken to clean this mess up, but instead the public is only worried about when the next big storm will come through to blow it all away, (instead of trading in their massive SUV's and trucks for more efficient vehicles or even car pooling). Thats Amercia for you I guess, everything has to be bigger and better.

@thanks everyone for your comments. The fog wasn't as thick as it seems - just to the middle of the chimney. The light ground frost adds to the optical illusion.
@Dennis, I liked the optical illusion here too. There is actually very little industry around Munich.
@Jaime, glad you like it. Fog can occur naturally like here when the ground cools down at night and the moist air above cools with it. And the results can be pretty too. Though not if is too thick, of course;-)

@alle, danke für Eure Kommentare - ja, ich bin heil wieder da, obwohl die Rückreise ziemlich abenteurlich war!
@Ruth, der Nebel war gar nicht so dick, wie er hier scheint. Nur bis zur Mitte des Schornsteins und dann nur an bestimmten stellen. Der leichte Bodenfrost trägt zum Eindruck bei.
@Christian, die aufgehende Sonne hat genau die Rauchfahne erwischt - Glück gehabt. Beim Landeanflug auf dem Heimweg wurden wir auch ziemlich geschaukelt!
@Reinhold, danke! Ich habe es fast Rauchverbot erwünscht genannt;-)

Great image...looks like a lot of the big cities here, when the steel mills were in there hay-day...but, here the fog was smog...greetings, den

Ganz prima gesehen! Der Schlot mit seinem Rauch sticht sehr gut heraus - da war das Licht echt ideal.

Im Fernsehen habe ich schaukelnde Flieger beim Landeanflug über Frankfurt gesehen - Oh Gott - Schön, dass du wieder heil angekommen bist!

Eine dichte Nebelsuppe hast Du da erwischt.
Der Schornstein sieht wirklich aus wie eine qualmende Zigarre.
