    and here one sees how the machine has chewed into the landscape ...
    it must have been quite a feeling to be on the bottom of the pit looking up !!

      Thank you for your kind comments, it’s a good feeling having such a positive response.

      Yes, it was and is every time very impressive knowing we are about 150-180 m below sea level and finding pieces of trees which had grown here millions of years ago.  For more than 100 years this energy supplied us electricity for our wealth and economic, now being hit by the climate debate. In 10 years ( or perhaps earlier) this mining pit will end up and the related power plant will be shut down.
