Autumn on a Patio - A Midtown East Impression
I can't say that noon-hour sunshine is a favorite time for photography, but I did like the special kind of light the midday late October sun was casting on this little tree on the patio of my New York hotel room, and the striking contrast between sunbathed leaves and the cool blues of a nearby office tower as I viewed the scene through the compressed telephoto perspective of my film-era TAIR 11A 135mm f/2.8 lens.
As the Fitzpatrick Grand Central, a favorite hotel of mine in Midtown-East, is surrounded by taller buildings, the mid-day sunshine was actually the "key" in this case, in terms of getting the right sort of light to bathe the vegetation on a tenth floor penthouse patio before the sun's angle placed it behind a taller neighbor.
