Australian Coot
The Coot is from Australia. There were many sightings of the Coot in New Zealand but none seem to become a breeding population until the 1950's. Breeding populations have been growing since then. They are fully aquatic.

a nice capture of this little coot and his red eye looking at us ...ours are all black here - and very hard to photograph !!!
