...and there was 'Growler - The Time-Travel Doggie' - A Holiday Nostalgia Train Moment
Well, no, I didn't get his real name, but as I often refer to these 1930s-vintage R1/9 New York City Subway trains as "Growlers" (for the distinctive sonic signature of their older DC traction motor gearing as they accelerate) I thought I'd just "borrow" that name to bestow on this sweet little fella, who seemed to be quite calmly taking it all in stride, with nary a whimper - or growl - as we hurtled along at express-train speed on the Sixth Avenue Line toward the Lower East Side on a December Sunday afternoon.
