Son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1901 Edward inherited the royal title and also became Emperor of India and British Colonies.
He fostered good relations between Britain and other European countries, especially France, for which he was popularly called "Peacemaker" and thanks to his numerous relatives with many European sovereigns, he was also nicknamed "Uncle of Europe".
