A Glimpse

of Wreck Beach (Vancouver's official Nudist beach :-))) as we are almost down the 490 steps ... to the left is the break water and Fraser River North Arm, across the Salish Sea the mountains of Vancouver Island....
and here some interestng Wikipedia information:
The earliest evidence of Indigenous peoples inhabitation dates back to 13,000 B.C. being the hunting, fishing, logging, spiritual connection grounds for the Musqueam, referred to as "Ulksen" or "the nose". The beach is reclaimed from the sea in a joint venture with the Canadian Army and UBC to train cadets for beach landings in WWI, hence the presence of the "instrument towers". In the Great Depression, nude bathing became popular due to high costs of swimsuits with men congregating on Siwash Rock in Stanley Park, to escape the puritanicalist oppression of local residents, they then flocked to Wreck Beach. The beach increased in popularity with hippies until the late 1960s when a police raid in 1970 yielded a dozen arrests. The Georgia Straight (ancouverr newspaper) staged a nude-in protest with 3,000 showing up and the charges were dropped, with the police designating the area as a "no-harm, no-foul zone" until 1991 when it was officially designated a legally recognised nudist beach

Une découverte de la plage à travers la trouée entre les arbres, du haut de ta descente dans les bois : les troncs d'arbres coupés jonchent le sable de la plage, attendant sans doute d'être regroupés et transportés sur l'eau, je suppose. Une vue des bleus reliefs lointains nous fait imaginer la côte découpée. Très belle vision locale, Adele, on te suit avec plaisir dans tes balades du côté de Vancouver! BIses et GRAND BRAVO! Michèle

A great view through the trees towards the sea with blue mountains in the background! That's really a fine nudist beach with deep naturally character. ;-)

The tree trunks no longer have any bark on their wood.
This means they fit quite well on the beach.

Man hat hier einen feinen Durchblick in die Ferne! Manche Bäume haben ihr Laub schon verloren und daher ist dieser schöne Blick erst möglich! VG!

Ich wollte schon fragen, wie viele Stufen du noch hinunter musst ;-) ... Das ist ja ein sehr interessanter Strandabschnitt - danke für die Info dazu. Inzwischen scheint es zu kalt zu sein, um unbekleidet zu baden. Was mir sehr gut gefällt, sind die weitgehend unbelaubten Bäume, die diesen Durchblick ermöglichen - eine feine Bildkomposition.

Excellent point de vue sur le fleuve au travers de ce rideau de fine végétation fin comme de la dentelle . On aperçoit des bois de flotaison qui ont échoué sur la rive .
