A fine piece of masonry

Region of Hepirus
Zagorochoria villages

The handmade bridge
This old (dating from 1780) and entirely handmade bridge is a fine piece of masonry and one of the many constructed by the famous masons from the Zagorochoria villages that still survive intact defying time and various physical disasters as floods and earthquakes. Masonry craft in that area goes from father to son since many centuries.

le noir et blanc convient à merveille à ce petit pont d'une extrême finesse. Le choix de l'angle de prise de vue est excellent.

Very nice. The structure of the bridge seems to melt with the surrounding vegetation. Formidable b&w.

A superb monument to the craftsmanship of those stone masons, and built to withstand the rigors of nature.
The wooden scaffolding that they would have to have built first in order to build this magnificent bridge must have been a work of art in itself.

indeed one has to admire the architecture of this old bridge which has survived for so many years - it seems the weeds and bushes are trying to take over - the all-over tonality emphasizes this .... excellent viewpoint and great with the woman adding life to the scene !!!
