This section is dedicated to nature photographs that cannot be clearly assigned to the other specific subsections. It provides space for subjects that are unusual, rare, or cross-category, yet still highlight the richness and fascination of the natural world. Typical themes include the elemental power of fire and volcanic activity, the traces of the past preserved in fossils and geological compounds, or the fragile beauty of stones and minerals. Also welcome are images of natural phenomena, such as earthquakes, floods, rainbows, thunderstorms, and other striking weather events, as well as photographs that document the effects of pollution and human impact on the environment.
