Canon EOS 20D banding is strange!

All of us know about the banding issue of the 20D, that doesn't show up in the 350D.
As many say, it is probably a hardware problem, related to power amplifiers of the analogue devices in the camera.
Said this, it would be normal to see the banding effect come out, or get worse, with higher ISO levels right?

Well, weird enough, on my camera the problem occours only sometimes: at ISO 3200 I can get pretty clean images, and the same shot, taken at ISO 400 can be unusable!
This is pretty weird, but can proof that the noise ripples in the power circuit may occour, or have different characteristics from shot to shot, even without turning off the camera, or using it in different weather conditions.

As far as I can see, the best thing, when the banding occours, it to take the shot at every ISO level, low AND HIGH, because the problem is not going to happen only at high levels.
Obviously this isn't the best thing to think of (having to deal with this problem after having spent 1500 dollars or 1700 euros - in Italy), but when taking professional photos of still things it's not such a big issue.

In fact I'm very happy with the camera, that most of the time shows the same noise levels of the 1D Mark II.

For those who take sport pictures as a job, this is definetly not the right choice (and it's sad because every other aspect of the camera is perfect...the speed is amazing for such a price).

For everyday photos... just get the wider lens you can pay for and stick to ISO 100 that appears to be safe enough.
In this case, this camera is not really suitable for in-door shots, if not with powerful external flash units.

Cheers,
Ascanio.
