Hi all,

I’ve been shooting film for quite a while now, mostly with an MP, and like many others I’ve built up a growing archive of scans. One thing that always felt missing was a way to properly attach the shooting details to each image in a way that modern software can actually understand.

I put together a small app to help with this. It's called Frames https://withframes.com/ and lets you note things like film stock, lens, camera settings and your own comments while shooting, and later writes that info directly into your scans. The tags follow standard metadata formats, so apps like Finder, Lightroom, or Apollo can read them without any special setup.

I’ve been using it to keep my archive searchable and a bit more structured. Thought I’d share in case others have been trying to solve a similar problem. Would be curious to hear how others here deal with tagging or cataloging their film work.

Happy to answer any questions if it sounds interesting. :)
Have a great day!

Just wanted to share a quick update with you here. I’ve put together a new presentation video that shows Frames on iOS in more detail: https://youtu.be/KRLS5tpmvJM
I’d be very interested to hear your feedback.

Oh wow, that scratches an itch I’ve had for years.
I usually end up with notes scattered everywhere, so something searchable inside Lightroom is appealing. Going to take a look.
