Wide angle telephoto for Canon 60D
hi everyone.
i'm looking to purchase a wide angle telephoto lens for my 60d.
i've been looking at the canon 18-200mm which is about the range that i would like for a walkaround general do-it-all lens.
has anyone any experience or knowledge of this lens, is it any good or are there any other lens of this type by other makers that are as good or better that i could look at.
its a jungle out there so any help in making a decision would be helpful.
kind regards, maurice.

In general i do not think highly of any such super zoom lenses.
Their quality is in general below average especially in the telephoto range.
As a walkaround lens they may have some value, however being used to top quality glass, i would not even want one if i got it for free !!

Hi Maurice, the Canon 18-200mm is a solid all-in-one lens for general use, offering good versatility and image stabilization. It's great for travel or walkaround shooting, though the image quality won’t match that of more specialized lenses. If you're open to third-party options, the Tamron 18-400mm or Sigma 18-250mm are worth a look for extended reach. Just remember, with superzooms, you trade a bit of sharpness for convenience.
