Hey!

I'm asking, if you anyone could recommend a decent telephoto lens. I'm currently using Canon 1000D and at the moment I'm managing with the DSLR, but I feel that investing money for Canon L-series lens would be a waste of money, because of the CMOS module.

Cheers guys!

A waste because of the cmos sensor?? where did you get that idea??

The best sensors available at this moment are the cmos sensors, even though the 1000D is offcourse not the newest model.

I was only thinking that the DSLR wouldn't get everything out of the L-series lens, because of the limitations of CMOS sensor, that's all :)

The sensor doesn't matter as much as the lens. As long as you don't push the ISO too high, you won't be able to tell it was taken with a "bad" camera. A cheap camera with a good lens will give you better results than a good camera with a cheap lens.

What's your budget and what are you planning to use it for?

Hey Joni! Totally get where you're coming from—putting big money into an L-series lens might not be the best move with the 1000D. I'd suggest looking into something like the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM or even a Sigma/Tamron 70-300mm—solid options that won't break the bank. They’ll still give you good reach and image quality for the 1000D’s sensor.
