Mésange à tête noire, Black-capped Chickadee, L= 13 cm, E=20 cm, P=11 g
I feel the need here to give some details about this shot. In fact, if you look closely, you'll see one foot of the Chickadee under his wing (transparency). So the bird was just leaving this little branch and starting to take its flight and unfold his wings... There are no digital transformation on this picture except from sharpening tool, shadow/highlight and obviously, desaturation. The white softness in the lower part of the image is due to snow out of focus. And Tom, I can reassure you, there were no pin used ;-)

This is quite ethereal...and almost like you pinned the little chickadee to a branch to make it look like it's actually flying...which, of course, we all know it actually is.

La mésange à tête noire est mon oiseau préféré. Tout petit avec tant de caractère. Peur de rien et tout migon. Cette photo noir et blanc lui fait tout honneur. Beau travail!
