The Living Forest (309) : Grecian Windflower

Grecian Windflower (also known as Balkan Anemone) is native to southeastern Europe, Turkey, Lebanon and Syria but is naturalized as (rare) wild ornamental plant in Western Europe.

The flowers have an intense shade of purple blue in contrast to the more well-known Wood Anemone (see picture below).

Dutch name : Oosterse anemoon
German name : Balkan-Windröschen (auch Reizendes Windröschen genannt)
Latin name : Anemone blanda
