The Fungi World (273) : Donut Fungus
The Donut Fungus (Donutia officinalis) is a very rare species that grows on a birch, but only after snowfall !!
It is served as a very tasty snack in the forest café (see picture below) fresh from the tree on your plate with lots of whipped cream.

It’s a Birch Polypore, a theoretically edible fungus, but with an unpalatable bitter taste.
Dutch name : Berkenzwam
German name : Birkenporling
Latin name : Piptoporus betulinus
