The Anatomy of Time

Radiography and photography are just methods of recording radiation from two different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. You might think of x-rays as light from "beyond the ultraviolet". Way beyond! But these "rays" can go where visable light cannot - such as inside this old pocket watch (which was given to me by my grandfather before he died).

After I made the radiograph, I photographed the film on a light board with a Canon digital camera and created a negative of the image with Microsoft Digital Image software (because radiographs are direct negative images on a film, this is one case where two negatives really do make a positive!).

Oh, some disclaimers are in order. This demonstration is by a professional driver on a closed course. Do not try this at home. X-rays can be dangerous. Your mileage may vary. The mad scientist has now left the building, seeking further experiments in light and time. Tempus fugit. E=mc2.

(fine then, yeah, yeah....i've outed myself as a jimmy buffett fan...phan...hee hee. please don't shun me. LOL. ah, our 20th/21st century's answer to the Bard rarely fails with a poignant lyric or two despite the fact that we're all quite well aware that he can't sing a lick of any of them! haha...) hard to avoid looking at your images not only bc they're fascinating and well-executed but bc we get your accompanying caption gems! all of it, very cool, never predictable and consistently inspiring...

To me, it's more than just another x-ray....

Time.
Loosing time.
wasting time.
Using the given time.
Isn`t it the central theme of our pour existence ?

By the way.
My grandfather gave me an old pocket watch as well :-)
That was 36 year ago.
I used it very often and it still works pretty good.
It shows me how my time is running . . . . . . . .
And it forces me to use the given time as good as I can.
