Six Spotted Tiger beetle killing an ant (Cicindela sexguttata)

Tiger beetles have been amongst my favorite beetles since I was a small boy, due to their striking looks and ferocious behaviour... well if you were an ant you'd think so. They're very fast fliers and runners, perhaps that's why they usually come in metallic 'British Racing Green', and they always seem to be alert and wary of there surroundings. These characteristics make them at times difficult subjects to photograph.
