Saint Louis Old Courthouse
A historic landmark. Construction started in 1839 and continued through several transitions until 1862. One of the most important cases ever tried in the United States was heard here: the suit by Dred Scott for freedom from slavery. Supreme Court decision in 1857, and hastened the start of the Civil War.
