Northern shoveler on the ice
Last weekend, we had again bloody cold weather, coming directly from polar regions. Surprisingly fast there was ice again on the water surface of the lakes.
Something which surprised also this northern shoveler.
The male of the northern shoveler is a beautiful duck with a strikingly large spatula-shaped beak, an iridescent dark green head, white breast and chestnut belly and flanks.
A bird of open wetlands.
Dutch name : Slobeend
German name : Löffelente
Latin name : Anas clypeata (syn. Spatula clypeata)

Eine Löffelente - noch nie habe ich so eine bewußt gesehen und im ersten Moment dachte ich, daß dies eine ganz normale Stockente ist.Und wie sie da steht ...... Herrlich !!!!
